FAQ

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent, synthetic extensions are glued one-by-one onto the natural lash (not the skin) using a specially formulated glue that last around 4 weeks. Single synthetic eyelashes are applied to your own natural eyelash to achieve a beautiful, full, luscious, and long set of lashes that are natural and so comfortable you won’t even know they are there.
This service is best done by a professional who will use products that are safe and high-quality, as well as guide you through the right length and volume suitable for your lashes. This type of eyelash extension originates in Korea, but has become mainstream in the United States in recent years.
These are different from the self-stick strip false lashes or individual clusters of lashes knotted together that are a single-event accessory.

Should I be careful who applies the eyelash extensions and should they be trained?

Absolutely, we cannot stress the importance of choosing an eyelash technician who has been taught by a qualified and experienced person. Beware of eyelash extension operators who claim to have been professionally trained but have been self-taught via the Internet. Many of these operators use poor quality products. The results can be disastrous to your lashes and eye health.
Find a professional who uses high-quality products and safe application techniques. Please do your research thoroughly, ask a lot of questions about the process, and when looking for a deal, always remember the importance of the health of your eyes.

Who can wear eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extension has become a beauty staple and is only becoming more popular nowadays. You don’t have to be a celebrity or model to wear eyelash extensions. Normal everyday ladies love eyelash extensions and can’t bear to be without them. Eyelash clients include nurses, beauty therapists, surgeons, dentists, lawyers, financial advisors, mums, detectives, dancers, business owners, nail technicians, forensic chemists, university students, hairdressers, police women and many more wonderful people. We all deserve to be as beautiful as we can.

How are the eyelash extensions applied?

A single natural eyelash is isolated and a synthetic lash is glued to the top of your own natural eyelash approximately 1mm from the eyelid. Neither the glue nor the lash has contact with the skin.

Can I apply eyelash extensions myself?

No. Professional-grade eyelash extensions can only be applied by a trained professional

Will eyelash extensions make my own lashes fall out?

Eyelash extensions alone will not make your lashes fall out. Many of my clients have constantly had extensions applied with no eyelash breakage and they have never encountered issues with their natural lashes falling out. To ensure the continued health of your lashes, it’s imperative to have your lash extensions applied by a qualified technician who uses top quality products.
Keep in mind eyelashes have a natural cycle of 6-8 weeks and are constantly being replaced just like hair follicles. Be sure not to pull at lash extensions. Proper care is required to maximize their benefit, as well as ensure the health of your natural eyelashes.

Can I still wear eye makeup?

Yes, but you won’t need mascara and you may even find you don’t need eyeliner. If you do choose to wear eye makeup, you can use your favorite eyeliner and eye shadows. Just remember not to use an oil-based make-up remover as it can weaken the glue. Your eyelash technician will give you more information regarding what makeup products can be used to prolong the life of your extensions.
